White’s Hot Fashion Face-Off: PARTY WHITE!

It’s been a loong and busy past couple of weeks for me. Lately, I’ve only been getting five hours of sleep or less what with a day job, and this home work type of job on the side.. All in the hopes of sustaining all my drama in preparation for THE job that I really have wanted ever since I can’t remember..*) So I apologize in advance if I kind of look zombie-ish in this second post I am doing for Colgate-Palmolive’s White’s Hot Fashion Face-Off. Pray the floaty-feeling doesn’t show much on my face..(sheeesh)

So moving on, here is the Party Look that I styled for the contest.

I recently discovered that we were allowed to use other colors for the clothes and not only white. Here I decided to use a sheer long-sleeved blouse together with a sparkly skirt and the highest gunmetal heels that I own. *)

I then wore the Rajo Laurel wrap over my top and skirt, and pulled two corners of the wrap around my waist and tied a tiny knot at the back to secure it in place.

I wanted to create the illusion of a mullet skirt/dress using the Rajo Laurel wrap so this is what I did.

I think being a Libra rubs off on how I dress myself. I always consider balance when thinking out any outfit. If my bottoms, skirt or shorts are really short, then I go for a long sleeved top, three-fourths sleeves or maybe a blazer on top of a sleeveless shirt.

This being said.. come to think of it, I had never tried a sleeveless coat/jacket/vest over a long sleeved top before. So I decided to try it out! I think the sheer sleeves and the metal elements make the look a little bit more interesting.

This post needs more happy photos of me. LOL!

To top it all off, add this cool white biker jacket when on you’re way home to keep warm! Can you believe its mid-November already?!

How about an early Christmas present for me? *) Please keep voting for me guys and help me win this big break! White’s Hot Fashion Face-Off: CASUAL WHITE!

Remember this post?.. I made it to the top 10! I’m soo grateful to the Lord for this unexpected blessing! *)

The ten finalists including me, were sent Rajo Laurel accessories last Tuesday that we will incorporate with two new outfits that we are to style and post on our respective blogs.

The Rajo wrap is just immaculate with its pure white color and very soft texture.  The fabric belt that came with it is equally pretty as well, it being in just the perfect shade of red.  One could say these two pieces of garments are something of a staple to your wardrobe as there are various ways that they can be used.  Very ingeniously versatile.

So we are to post two looks for the White’s Hot styling contest.  The first look is the Casual White Look and this is the first outfit that I came up with..

I decided to break the monotony of the color with an off-white, lace, sleeveless top together with these cute pair of semi-high-waist shorts that are just the right “short” for me to still be comfortable to move around in.

White doesn’t have to be boring if you know how to work around it.  Wearing layers of the same color in different types of fabric is one way to do it.  You can also use tone-on-tone or different shades of the same color to make it a bit more interesting.  This technique, of course works with other colors as well. *)

All the finalists were asked to be as experimental as possible with the Rajo Laurel wrap and the belt as well.  The obvious choice would be to use the wrap as a vest and then use the belt around it, as how Solenn wore it on the Youtube video.  So I asked myself how else could I use these two garments, without being too conventional.

So here I used the belt as a sort of scarf around the wrap and gathered the edges of the wrap on one side..

I made sure to gather the wrap short enough, so there’s space for the lace top underneath to show.  In other words, I used the wrap as a one-sided cropped top to add more depth and oomph to my Casual white outfit. *)

I then added white accessories and used these taupe booties to make the look a bit more edgy as a contrast to the soft white tones and textures in the clothes.

So what do you think of my Casual White look?  Please do vote for me and get a chance to win GCs worth P5,000 from nothing less than fab designer Rajo Laurel!  Visit the White’s Hot Facebook page for more updates and do follow my blog as well.

I will be posting my second  White Look for the Contest on November the 14th too so watch out for it and  please be voting for me so I can style Solenn Heusaff for a magazine spread soon.. /shiverssss.. This is so surreal and all too awesome!  Help me live the dream! I will forever be grateful!*))

WHITE’S HOT: minimal TO THE MAXIMUM

This was a look that I styled a few weeks ago for my Styling class at The Fashion Institute of the Philippines.  We were asked to create mood boards on the current fashion trends.  The one whose theme with the most votes would be the inspo for our Women’s ready to wear fashion shoot.  My inspo was the Minimalist trend and my mood board won! (Wheeee!)

So this was the look that I went for.  Nothing states minimalism with maximum impact more than the color white.  There is so much you can do with it!

You can glam it up or make it edgy just with the right choice of accessories.  In this case, I went for the edgy-futuristic type of minimalist look.  A little white dress with a simple cropped top for a little added depth; I then added silver and black minimalist accessories, and to make it more interesting lined her eyes in an unexpected way.

The great thing about this white outfit is that I could have gone on a completely different path  and used bold, glamorous accessories, a gold sequin vest or a jacket maybe for layering, sky-high heels, let the model’s hair fall naturally.. and Voila! a completely different look!

There really is something about the color white that sets it apart from the others.  So there is no argument, if you really want to make a statement to the maximum, then White is definitely the color to go to!
